Because driving seems like such an everyday activity, people often under-estimate how dangerous it can be. Too often people think they can drive while doing something else like eating or texting or making a phone call.
Eating and Driving is Distracted Driving

This is called “distracted driving,” and one set of statistics after another shows just how dangerous it can be.
Eating while driving is one of the more common multi-tasking activities that drivers indulge in. It is tempting when you’re running late to think you can combine your travel time with the time needed for a quick bit to eat. You think you’re saving time you don’t have by taking care of two things at once.
But driving requires both handling your vehicle and being aware of what’s going on around you while you do so. Anything that occupies part of your concentration while driving is taking your thinking away from your driving environment, so that you can find yourself in a dangerous situation without ever seeing it coming.
And eating is also a physical distaction. You may think that one hand on the steering wheel is enough, so that you can use that other hand to hold your taco. But what happens when you need to signal a turn or a lane change?
