Driving in Texas is about to get even faster, at least for drivers along one section of one highway in Central Texas.

Today, workmen began hanging the 85 mph speed limit signs along a new 40-mile toll road that runs from Austin to Seguin. This new section of Texas Highway 130 is scheduled to open by Nov. 11.

This speed limit will give Texas the fastest speed limit in the Western Hemisphere, according to some. Currently the highest legal speed on any road in the USA is 80 mph.

I have heard about 80mph roads and now 85. Wow. I will definately be driving in the right or slower lane. When I try to get my little 4 cylinder Honda Civic up to 70 to go the speed limit it’s sounds like it’s suffering from exhaution. I wonder what the suggested speed will be on exit ramps. Good thing those are suggested speeds because our classes at comedyguys would be full of exit ramp speeders.

You know if the speed limit is 85 people will happily go 100. I hope people realize just how fast that is and whether or not they have the skills to handle a car at that speed.
