Across Texas many students go back to school today, so we drivers have one more thing to consider when it comes to keeping ourselves and everyone else safe when we’re behind the wheel.

As a reminder of how to drive around school buses, here’s a video on school bus driving safety from the National Safety Council and First Student.

95 percent of the time that I see school buses stopping to unload or load, other drivers are doing the right thing by stopping until the driver has pulled in the sign and turned off the flashing lights. Every now and then I see a driver who is in too much of a hurry to observe the law and neglects the safety of children. This is a serious ticket if caught. And I don’t need to tell you about worse case scenario. STOP FOR SCHOOL BUSES KNUCKLEHEADS!

I’m glad they have videos to promote bus safety. There also needs to be videos on School Zones. If I have a class numbering 15 or more students, there is at least one speeding ticket in a school zone. Very dangerous. Drivers need to actively look for school zones in the morning and afternoon and then….SLOWDOWN.
