Comic Martin Short began his career in Canada and like more successful Canadians, got out of Canada as soon as possible.

In 1977, he joined the cast of Second City in Toronto with Eugene Levy and Dave Thomas (not the Wendy’s guy; the one who was on BONES last night).  Eventually they started the television show SCTV which introduced Canadian style comedy to the world. Canadian humor includes yellow snow and beaver pelts.

In 1984, Martin joined the cast of SNL.  He re-introduced Ed Grimley to the late night world and that character took off.  Eventually Ed became a Saturday morning cartoon show, the only character from SNL to accomplish that feat.

We hoped that the same thing would have been done with Fred Garvin, Male Prostitute.  It would have been a perfect cartoon series.

Martin has appeared in such films as Innerspace, Pure Luck, Mars Attacks!, There’s Back! and the remake series of Father of the Bride flicks.  We here at are big fans of his co-staring role in The Three Amigos!  We wonder why so many of Martin’s films have to have an explanation point.

Martin once said, “I’ve chosen to treat my life more like a party than something to stress about.”  We here at have to agree.  And we agree with an ‘!’
