Happy Birthday, Howard Hesseman
Howard Hesseman
February 27
Howard Hessemen will always be best known as Dr. Johnny Fever on WKRP in Cincinnati. He played what we all wanted to be as kids, a cool disc jockey spinning tunes what he wanted to hear on the radio.
His film work has been less successful. He appeared in the comic flicks Amazon Women on the Moon, Doctor Detroit, Police Academy 2, The Big Bus and This is Spinal Tap.
For a time, he used the stage name Don Sturdy. Under this name, he appeared on Dragnet and The Andy Griffith Show.
Little known fact: he was a close friend and sometime lover of Janice Joplin in the 1960s, proving that he is a brave individual.
