L. Ron Hubbard was a science fiction writer in the golden-age of pulp fiction.  He wrote adventure tales for such magazines as Fantastic Adventure, Thrilling Adventure, Unknown and Astounding.  We are not sure if he wrote for Fantastically Unknown or Astoundingly Thrilling magazines.

As a contemporary of Isaac Asimov and Robert Heinlein,  L. Ron eventually crafted the Battlefield Earth series of novels which have sold millions of copies, most of which were bought by members of his religion.  This book was made into what some would call a film.

Perhaps his best known aspect of L. Ron’s  life was creating Dianetics, a series of mental health regression techniques that he eventually turned into the idea of Scientology.  The Church of Scientology is one of the fastest growing religions on the planet.  Some of its practitioners are Tom Cruise and John Travolta.  John also starred in Battlefield Earth in 2000, a film so bad that it won 6 Razzie Awards.

We here at ComedyGuys like the idea of starting a religion.  We are going to call it Laughology and instead of priests, we are going to have have stand-ups.  Every church will have a two drink minimum and hot waitresses as ‘altar boys’.

During his lifetime L. Ron produced 65 million words on Dianetics and Scientology.  We here at Comedy Guys are happy if we can craft a good “Happy Birthday” message.
