In the marketplace of Karlsruhe, Germany, there is a sculpture of a red Mercedes Benz truck. This full-size replica curves upward so that the rear of the truck is “parked” against the side of the building, but from the front it looks completely realistic.

Perhaps too realistic, because recently a police officer ticketed the sculpture for a parking violation.

The sculpture — called simply “Truck” — is the work of Austrian artist Erwin Wurm, and it was placed there as part of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the city.

We found this story thanks to the fun people at Laughing Squid.

Actually, though, the more I think about it, the more I wonder if this really was a mistake. That ticket might be part of the sculpture, or it could have been put there as a joke, by a police officer or someone else who just thought it was funny.
